2024 ACDelco Tech Challenge - March 2024

Last month we asked this Tech question and invited you to share your answer. We value your expertise and want to thank everyone who participated!

What is the voltage restriction required when charging an Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery and why?
14.4 v or less. AGM batteries have very low internal resistance and can be damaged by charging at higher voltages and current rates. Using a charger designed for AGM batteries will keep the voltage at or below 14.4 vdc, and taper the current down as the battery approaches 80% charged to prevent thermal run-away.

Congratulations to the following shops who answered this question correctly and will be receiving a prize pack!
